Charger/amplifiers have many additional options over a single base charger, these are:
- The external antenna will improve the receive signal around -20 db. If a local tower fails, distant towers will be able to be received better
- The charger/amplifier comes with its own power adapter/cord. This allows the user to use the adapter/cord that came with the pager to be charged at a different location
- If the volume is turned all the way up, users who are heavy sleepers can be alerted. (This also can let your neighbors know you have a call :))
